About

I’m a deep value investor focused on micro-cap stocks. I post interesting ideas as I come across them (hopefully at least once a day!), and try to focus on stocks trading at extraordinarily cheap multiples, with hidden assets, a potential for immediate value creation, or some combination of the three. When I come across ideas that really interest me or ideas that I am considering investing in, I’ll do an extremely deep dive into the company trying to flesh out my thoughts and aid others in valuing the company.

I don’t believe in technicals. I don’t do macro (top-down) investing, though I try to avoid investing in dying businesses. While I do enjoy the magic formula and all of Greenblatt’s writing, I don’t believe there’s a magic formula to uncovering great investments. Many of my best investments would never show up on a value screen, because all of their value was in hidden assets that you could only find by digging into the financials. Or maybe it was a case where one division was losing so much money that it obscured another division that would be worth four times the current stock price if it wasn’t weighed down by the other. In sum, I believe only in investing like an owner, buying with a margin of safety, and using old fashioned hard work to find investments.

I try to be extremely open and honest in my research and postings, and I will freely admit to not knowing or understanding some aspect of a company if I have questions about it in my research. I’m always learning and becoming a better investor, and I will also freely admit when I feel like an idea does not fall within my circle of competence.

If you have any thoughts or suggestions, I’d love to hear them, and I’d always be happy to discuss anything related to specific stock ideas or investing in general. Contact me at whopperinvestments @ gmail.com
